My Take on Aliens vs. Predator 2I

With
the recent interview with Paul
Pawlicki, gamers found out AvP 3 is going to be made,
so I thought Id express what I think it should be like.
And maybe some of my ideas will make it to Sierra
(pfft!). Heck, every game needs a storyline, so let's give
this a shot...
The
opening movie starts by seeing a Predator hunting on an alien
planet - not the Alien planet, but just an alien planet.
The Predator bags a trophy and heads back to the ship that
brought him here, and proceeds to send a message to his homeworld.
(We know its the homeworld, mainly because, as youre
reading, the camera pulls back to show the society built by
the predators... perhaps some invisible buildings?)
It cuts to outer-space: we see a large USCMC starship, escorted
by a wing of dropships, traveling back to Earth after it captured
some Alien specimens and eggs. (We know it's heading for Earth
because they've also sent a message about it) But when one
of the Marine dropship passes the alien planet, with the Predator
on it, the message gets intercepted.

In
the foreground, a speeding Predator ship comes behind the
marine ship. Shots are fired, and the marine ship ultimately
does a nosedive straight to the planet -- in the process,
dropping the eggs and cargo there.
This causes all hell to break lose.
While
the Predators are hunting, the Marines are looking for a way
out. The Aliens, slowing growing from impregnating a few Marine
and Predator stragglers, are basically lost, but trying to
start a new colony by capturing more hosts.
Its a pretty general storyline, but if you look at the
last two Aliens movies, they werent exactly award-winning
novels, if you know what I mean.
Where are we... oh yeah, species and class type. Well, for
single player, the player should be able to pick which species
from the start; the type of Predator, or what species to face-hug
in the Alien campaign, and instead of the 'Corporates' and
the 'Marine Corps,' let's keep it simple and just go with
the Army or something.
While on the topic of Humans, let's talk about exosuits. They
made the game highly unfair, but to please the ones that enjoy
the exosuits and please the ones that dont, well
put them in but make the hydraulics on the legs broke or something,
so the thing is stationary. (Dont worry, there will
be a lot of them) Or maybe make 'em real slow... just
something to give them some kind of disadvantage.
As for the Queen, this also is unfair, so we're going
to take her out in exchange for the Empress. (I dont
know how the Empress got there but she is) And if you dont
already know, the empress cant move either - just kind
of sits there and defends her eggs, but would require a great
deal of health to break free.
The Predator got screwed in the last two patches for AvP2.
He is now the species that needs a miracle to win if the other
players have exosuits or queens. To make it more fair for
the Predator lovers out there, the species should be able
to call on their ship for support as an expensive special
ability, or something like that.
Weapons, the issue of what each species is allowed to have
what, is very controversial.
In my opinion, the Marine is all around fine; he has semi-realistic
weapons for long and short-range. Perfect.
The Alien can be improved by giving him the ability to spit
acid a short distance. How will this help, you ask? Too many
a time a Predator player has fired his deadly blasts at me
and killing my helpless body. An acid-spit weapon would enable
the alien to make its escape, or maybe attack the predator
from behind. Of course, a limit would be put on this, so a
gauge on your screen of how much acid you have left would
be needed. You can raise your acid level by eating more food,
even
In the movie, Predator 2 the Predator had the disc,
but it in no way homed in on Danny Glover. So that ability
is gone. The plasmacaster, of course, will still home-in,
but only as the secondary fire mode is held down. Also, if
the Predator is cloaked, and comes into contact with any water,
it should short-circuit for a few seconds instead of automatically
uncloaking.

In
the first AvP game, the Alien was lightning fast. And when
it ate its victim the health almost topped out... this should
be brought back. If it's not, have things like 'alien buffalo'
on the planet for a health boost for the Alien.
The
Predator should have to find stuff to be able to use the Medicomp
- like in Predator 2, when it used the drywall as part
of its medical mixture.
When
I played Return to Castle Wolfenstein, it took me a
while to beat it. If you play AvP2, it can be done in a day
or so. Make AvP 3 longer, man. Yeah, it's cool that you play
three campaign missions, but if you put it all together
its a really short game.
So,
after a war on this alien planet, let's take this another
step further. We could bring in more marines, and find that
there's ancient alien technology in the ground, therefore
changing the marines motive from survival to prosperity.
As
for multi-player, they should use the Quake engine or
something to that effect; make it so people can add bots,
so this way a clan member can train on his/her own. Or for
the poor dial-upper, he can play in DM maps without actually
being online.
To conclude, AvP 3 has to make some definite changes if it
wants the "Game of the Year" award. But even if
it doesnt make those changes, expect a good game anyway
from the folks at Monolith Productions.
And thats all I have to say about that.
If
you want to have your opinion expressed as well send it to
me, and maybe Ill compile an article all about the readers'
views
.

Starter: Ever notice how much life is like games; you
go through puberty, your 20s and eventually make it
to being Over-the-hill, just like stages or levels.
During your life you will face many challenges and bullies,
just like a boss. The major difference is, in life there is
only one life, and no continues, or restarts.
