Girls in the History of the AvP Community and Movies

Since the
human species 'found out' there's two genders out there, one
called the other "male," and another called the
other "female."
Since the beginning of the computer century, the male humans
have always thought that the females would not be suited for
using computers, or even using any computer games.
After we think about that, who would even dare to think about
having females working on a computer game like AvP?
Well, I
do, and I got proof that there are women working on
AvP2! According to my research, there are plenty of women
working for Fox Interactive,
Sierra Studios and Vivendi-Universal
in all the AvP games...
- Lindsey
Fischer, Kristin Sutter, Kimberlee MacMullan -- Fox
Interactive
- Rozita
Tolouey, Koren Bruckner, Sarita Churchill -- Vivendi-Universal
- Kathy
Carter, Jessica Drossin, Lauren Azeltine -- Sierra
Studios
- David
Shipley, Lone Wolf McShipley -- don't ask me; he made me
write it! *Sniffles and hides*
(In case
I forgot anyone, please don't hate me; I'm just a KittyKid.)
As we just found out, there have been quite a few women working
on AvP 1 and 2, and I think they did the job just as well
as a male would have...! And that means women and men have
equal rights in today's gaming times, which is a good thing.

Still, a
lot of people from the male gender tend to say, "What's
a girl doing in this game? This is a man's game!"
Sure, we
can find a whole lot of blood and guts, head-biting Aliens,
skull-ripping Predators, machine-gunning Colonial Marines
and lots and lots of dead things -- but this does not mean
women can't play those games. It would be unfair, and since
we aren't in the middle ages, anymore, it's even cool when
girls can play such games.
Okay, we
are not as bloodthirsty as males, but you male readers need
to admit that the few female players are kick-ass ones! Hah-hah!
It's true: nearly all of the female gamers I know -- and I
know a lot of them -- are very good players (well, except
for me, because I suck big time! *Sniffle, whimper, cries*).
Still, there's always been one thing that confused me about
the gaming (and also in the AvP) community: how clans love
to use female players as their flagship member. I think it's
to make potential enemies think, "Hey, we're good, we're
sexy and we have female players!" Of course, it's not
always this way, but I've seen it enough to notice that it's
a trend these days.
The worse that happens these days, of course, is when a female
player owns another male player. The male player then feels
so ashamed, because: "She is just a girl." Most
women would be angry at a comment like that... if it wasn't
so funny and pathetic!
The fact is, the AvP community is a heterogene community -
both males and females, even though there are way more males.
We try to live each other, and get past each other's prejudices.
But what's the difference between male and female gamers,
if there are any?
Nothing that matters in a deathmatch game, I say.
Let's focus on the more or less important females in the Aliens
movies, for a moment. First of all, we have Ripley: she's
important, as she's the main character in the movies. Without
her, the Aliens movies would not have been the same.
In fact, without her, they wouldn't even make sense! I seriously
doubt the movies would have been as good if Ripley would have
been male, as there is a sort of mother-child relationship
between her and the Aliens. Especially the scene in Alien
3, where Ripley's 'adopted' child is killed, and has to
be cut open; it gave Ripley, and the movie, a warmer and more
caring atmosphere that only a female could have conciliated.
(Okay, a homosexual male could have managed it, too, but that
is not my point! *Giggles*).
We all know the movie, and we all know that the mixture of
caring, motherly and somehow sexy environment made the movies
great. Aliens hunting Ripley was a very cool thing, and it's
just one of those things that makes me want to watch the movies
again and again.
Oh, and Newt? The cute, little girl that made me cry when
she died? She looks almost exactly the same as I do! She was
so cute in the movie, and made it so much more... well...
how it basically conciliates the bound between Newt and Ripley.
As a matter of a fact, in the end of my article we can say
that women have always played an important role in the AvP
community and in online gaming and this is something which
is NOT going to change in the next years. In fact I think
more and more females will join the crowd.
