Interview with a Star

Today, I have finally managed to arrange an interview with the star of two really great games that I enjoyed playing. His first appearance was in the game No One Lives Forever (NOLF), developed by Monolith and published by Fox Interactive. This game won game of the year for 2000 from Computer Games Magazine, and was runner up for the PC Gamers' coveted Game of the Year spot.

Next, he appeared in another game from Monolith and Fox, Aliens versus Predator 2, although in a less prominent role. Yes, you know who I mean: the monkey!

The star is shown here in a blurry image taken from No One Lives Forever. At this point, he has just saved the main character from an evil henchman by distracting him while she made the killing blow.

Enough talking, on to the interview!

Mechman: Mr. Monkey, how did you manage to get into the game business?

Monkey: I was recruited after the Monolith team saw my cousin, Marcel, on Friends. I have a strong family resemblance, and I was willing to do some action scenes, so they hired me for their next title.

Mechman: What was it like during the making of NOLF?

Monkey: My main part was in the Morocco scenes, so I was able to visit some relatives while I had free time. Other than that, I had some important scenes, so the director was pretty strict. I really made several appearances in the game, mostly on the first few levels.

Mechman: How would you describe your role in AVP 2?

Monkey: I was what I considered to be a less prominent character, but I was vital to the plot nonetheless. I made appearances multiple times in this game as well, and I feel I did a pretty good job.

Mechman: What was the female cast of the games like?

Monkey: Well, Kate Archer, from NOLF, was pretty friendly to me, giving me figs and such, but Dunya was rude to me, and kept trying to lock me in cages. Tomiko was friendly to me as well, and helped keep the drones from drooling on me too much.

Mechman: Will you be making any appearances in NOLF 2 or AVP 3?

Monkey: I can't really say at this point, as I am in contract negotiations at this time.

Mechman: Any advice for your fans?

Monkey: Work hard, stay focused on your goals, and be willing to make sacrifices for what you believe in.

Mechman: Before we end, do you have any more publicity photos for your fans?

Monkey: Sure! Here's one I had Harrison take of me on the set of AVP 2.

The Monkey!

This is truly one of gaming's greatest stars, and I have no doubt we will all cheer him in his continuing rise to glory.
