How to Create a Battle.net 2.0 Account

Making a new Battle.net account is fairly straightforward, but we've made this handy visual guide to the process for all who'd like to take a preview.

Step One: Country and License Agreement
  1. Visit the sign up page and choose your country of residence.

  2. Read through the Terms of Use, or at least scroll to the bottom.

  3. Click the checkbox to indicate that you agree to its terms.

  4. Finally, click "Continue" to move on to the next step.

Step Two: Username and Password Details
  1. A valid e-mail address will act as your username, so choose one and enter it twice.

  2. Choose a good password and enter it twice.

  3. Select one of the password recovery questions and input your answer.

  4. Click "Continue" to, as you'd never expect, move forward.

Step Three: Contact Information and Options
  1. Input your full first and last names. We suggest using your billing name as this will make it simpler for game subscriptions and shopping at Blizzard's store.

  2. Enter your mailing address and telephone number. Again, we advise using billing details.

  3. Choose whether to opt-in for Beta test drawings and the Blizzard newsletter.

  4. Surprise: Click Continue!

Step Four: Verify Details
  1. Ensure your account details are correct and edit them as necessary.

  2. Click "Create This Battle.net Account."

Step Five: Verification E-mail
  • If all goes as expected, you'll next see this pretty "Battle.net Account Created" page informing you that you'll receive a verification e-mail. You'll need to click the link in the e-mail to verify your new account and unlock the ability to add games to your account.

  • Alternatively, click the big, yellow button to go directly to your Account Home.

  • You can now log in with this account to games like StarCraft II, Diablo III, and WoW.

Finished: Account Home
  • Welcome to your warm and fuzzy Account Home, where you can manage all your Battle.net account needs.

From here, you can add games to your account or merge a World of Warcraft account. Adding classic games like StarCraft and Diablo II by product key (CD key) allows you to download them for reinstall. You can also shop at the Blizzard Store with your fancy new account.

(Note that the screenshot shows Account Home before verifying one's account.)
