New Features: Artisans and Crafting

In addition to a new crafting system, Blizzard Entertainment revealed along with these screenshots the new Artisan system. Three earnable, special NPCs will follow your character throughout the regions and acts of the games in a caravan, providing item- and quest-related interactions from vending to crafting to other services. These NPCs themselves can be upgraded through a "training" system, thereby offering better items and enhancements.

The Blacksmith provides standard item vending as well as repairs, crafting, and socketing.	Crafting is performed on the NPC side, no Horadric Cube necessary.	In D3, crafting offers a mix of predictability and surprise in item properties.


The Barbarian uses Cleave on Skeleton Warriors next to a graveyard and cliff.	The "highlighted" zombies here are Champions.	Slaying the Champions, the Barbarian receies some health globes.
