Nary a whisper nor a gracious appearance has left my fans in a state of confusion since I last said I was returning, to keep all adventurers well-informed and well-stocked (of graciously Light Radius-enhancing magic varieties). It came at an inopportune time, too, as the world of Sanctuary was on the verge of destruction (pun intended) at the hands of one feisty Prime Evil, the very last one left.
Few knew what really was at stake as the ones, like yours truly, who watched adventurers pass by and fall until that bewildering set of seven managed to topple the demons one-by-one and were aware of a near-apocalypse kept quiet and continued selling our wares or acting our trades.
So what has become of the glorious Gheed since you last heard from me?
Not a small bit of chaos erupted in these lands, far and wide across the continents of Sanctuary, when that mountain exploded. Those still left alive in places like Kurast and the surrounding regions felt for the first time in their lives enormous earthquakes followed by aftershocks and a sky mysteriously darkened by clouds raining a blizzard of ash. The panicked hordes ran for their lives, out of their minds, thinking their lives were over.
Sound asleep in a small town in Khanduras at time time, I woke to find my caravan being raided and half the area on fire. I chased off the bastards stealing the last of my valuable wares, save for the best damaged shields money can by. This was rather unwelcome as I was just on my way to a nice, relaxing vacation in the modest but growing resort area of Lut Gholein that's taken root since those heroes eradicated the demon infestation. The harems, the pristine beaches, the ale, and most of all no pale-as-a-vampire, might as well be one necrophiliacs to bother me, let alone those other whining adventurers who gambled away their last bags of gold on my stupendous offerings - What else does one really need?
The economy sure takes a tumble when the world is ending, when tensions are high and the fair and wretched dwellers of our land of Sanctuary do start to think the world is ending again. I'm lucky I kept most of my gold laced in my clothing, away from the quick hands of dirty thieves, runaway bankers, and dissatisfied customers.
Let's just say that with my earnings, I decided I'd stay on an extended holiday until things settled down again, and after a time this turned into a sort of an early retirement. Oh so glorious these twenty years have been, at least until I came to spend the last of my gold at a surely rigged Amazon Casino.
Thus, my fair readers, I have returned, calling in favors from all my prestigious arms suppliers throughout Sanctuary, those still alive, that is. Come gamble for the best armor you'll find anywhere, drool over only the sharpest blades, and gaze longingly at the most powerful, rare, and magnificent magically-enchanted amulets. Bring your questions, and I guarantee you won't be disappointed*!
Dear Gheed, Master of '+1 to Light Radius'
I require both your wisdom, and your generocity on this day. Is there any way to improve the quality of the items you give me? If so, what is it? Also, because of all of the "good" items you gave to me, I demand a refund.
Hoping you listen to reason,
Bodyguarded - lvl 33 necromancer
Gimmieclothes - 26 sorceress
What's a refund? Oh, that thing chumps ask for!
Gimmieclothes? I think not! You can come right over here, pretty lady, Gheed will protect you from that nasty corpse-loving fiend. And yes, I suppose I can suit you up with some of the finest silks our lands have to offer. Just don't forget to gamble at my fine shop.
To answer your question, the one way to better the already stunning array of items I have to offer is to level-up. This unlocks higher level items and higher level magic item effects (bonuses) for your adventurer, those that you could not receive at lower levels. This is all based on item level, quality level, and character level, so if there's a particular unique sword you're looking for, make sure you know what level you need to be to gamble for it. We can't have adventuers running around with magicks and blades they aren't prepared for, for I hate to see my customers losing limbs - and more.
Specifically, there are requirements for base items (non-magical), and magic affixes (item bonuses). You unlock all base items when you reach character level 48, but the factor of quality level means that higher bonuses on items are not available until further character levels. You have the ability to receive items of quality levels between -5 and +4 levels from your character level.
The chances to receive different types of items from gambles follows, and it gets technical:
(pE/pV = probability, ilvl = clvl (-5 to +4), and qlvl = quality level of the base item)
There's an extended explanation of this from the High Heavens that may offer more clarity.

Subject: a question for you gheed
i wonder if the better chance of getting magic items means you just find magic items better or if you find set and unique items easier too.?
because i think the more MF you have the more better items you will find like set and unique
Pierre,
Magic Find bonuses affect your chances of getting all types of magic items, from basic blue magical to set, rare, and unique items too. Even though it won't impact your chances for gambling, it's about time you try a gamble!

Hi Gheed,
I'm up to the stage in Diablo II where I need to go to the sewers below the bazaar. But I can't find either the sewers or the bazaar .. what have I missed or what am I doing wrong.
Vicki
Vicki,
Sounds like you're speaking of the Sewers below my favorite city of Lut Gholein. Look for the stairs down to the sewers near the harbor, where Meshif stands waiting to take you to Kurast when the time comes. An alternate route through a trap door is available up near that crazy Elzix.

Hi
1.How many Rune Word Recipes are there?
2.How many have been found so far?
3.How many are left to be discovered?
4.Is there some sort of formula for discovering them?
5. Why won't Blizzard give us the undiscovered rune words and recipes?
Thank you,
Dana
Dana,
Sheesh, not even a word about my fine wares, missy? Just down to business I see. Well, a little incentive might wet my lips. Bah, just promise to gamble after you've listened.
There are around 80 rune word item recipes, but about 25 of them are only available to Ladder Characters.
The last of the hidden ones are not well-documented, but you can see all the details on the vast majority at Planet Diablo's guide.
That list is missing three of the hidden recipes added by the v1.11 Patch.
No, there's no formula, except for ruling out those recipes that already exist and experimenting with others.
One can never tell what the High Heavens are thinking, but it'd be wise to consider they don't reveal everything right away for it would make life too boring. The hidden recipes are there for you to discover, for the fun of discovering them for yourselves, and probably to make those items more rare.

As a professional necrophiliac hunter/killer i was wondering if smite really ISNT the best spell in the entire game to kill hacking necro's
i know that smite only does 300-400 or more damage, even when maxed to level 99, but it seems to be able to instantly kill million HP hackers. WTF?
please provide some insight on the topic, and i will kill 2000 necrophiliacs for you and bring their heads on pikes so that your small slave children will feast upon their brains and become smart enough to kill you, LOL
Archfiend,
The real answer here is that any skill, any weapon at all really, is the best way to deal with those damn necromancers. Really, I don't need their heads, just bring me their gold and equipment and I'll be happy.

can you make the map on diablo 2 any smaller i know u can move it with the arrows keys but can u make it smaller on your screen ive looked all over the web and in my books n couldnt find anything just wondering if you can get back to me
Thomas,
Evidently you haven't been looking very far into the game itself. Right in the options menu, in the automap submenu, you can choose between the big version of the map and the minimap. You can make it semitransparent or opaque, whatever you like. Check it out!

Well that's a bit of an abstract question. How does one find considerable coverage to overcome even the most fearsome minions of the Burning Hells?

Dear almighty Trillionare Gheed:
Ive come to you in seek of a part of your infinite wisdom, so please feel free to answer those questions:
1. Sometimes when i try to kill Diablo (i always kill him) he casts an spell uppon me that are some sharpened bones that wont let me scape, they are named Not used - Tel Ken
However, when i was using a D2 char/items editor, I charged a magic spell to my sword which was Diablos lightning. "200 charges lvl 63 Evil Force" the sword in the editor program said, but in the game my sword said: 200 charges lvl 63 Not Used - Tel Ken and the charged spell didnt appear in the charged spells row, there was nothing.
And when i added some wierd stuff like a brain, a heart, from the editor to my inventory, when i opened the game, those organs could be turned into a "Not used - Tel Ken" so i turned them into that, and one turned into a Full Healing Potion (same size as a full rejuv potion) named Not Used - Tel Ken, i drunk that potion and absolutely nothing happened even though i didnt have complete life. WHAT THE HELL IS NOT USED - TEL KEN?
2. When i was sleeping with my rouge mercenary, Aliza, Akara broke into my tent and tried to rape me, now im afarid to get close to her, what should i do?
3. Ive added the Black Tower Key from the editor to my char, but is it still usefull in any way?
4.which one do you like most, Charsi or Kashya?
5. I heard u had an affair with Charsi, is it true?
6. If i get the terror, hate and destruction key, and the organs, will i be able to open ubbers tritram portal in single player?
7. Why if u kill cowking, you cant make the portal again?
Final 2 questions
8. I turned my sword into a Breath of the Dying, but in the game didnt show all the magical attributes, but in the editor it did, wtf?
9. I tired to make an Exile, i put the runes in order in an exact- number- of -sockets shield, but nothing happened, wierd isnt it? all of this was in single player
Thanks for your time almighty Gheed, and thanks for making the Gheeds grand charm of 15% discount from sellers , i got seven, thanks, Holy_Cruzader
Holy_Cruzader,
Now that's an introduction - Infinite wisdom, that's right!
Since you're using a character editor, and those aren't reliable and certainly not recommended or supported by me, the Glorious Gheed, or anyone at Planet Diablo there's not much to say. From the odd encounter with the Tel Ken, it sounds like you're running a broken mod as well. The Black Tower Key was part of a quest that never made it to the game, so it really has no use.
That wasn't Akara, whose name I've heard only once or twice from tales and legends, it was the Blair Witch. Watch out for that one.
Charsi and Kashya... Both fine rogues. Kashya's the feistier of the two, but so moody she's a bomb waiting to go off when you catch her at the wrong moments, if you know what I mean. Charsi's a gentler, more womanly kind and she's the one for me. She has a soft spot for me already, let me tell you! But as for affairs, I don't kiss and tell, at least not before the third ale!
The Cow King portal restriction is just part of the game. Life in Sanctuary was just meant that way, as only occasional journeys to the Cow Level are permitted - for good reason. Do you want a resurgence of Mad Cow disease?!
Sometimes, not often, certain bonuses are hidden. THat would explain Breath of the Dying in this case, but it's likely that the editor is just reporting incorrectly.
As for Exile, double check the recipe and be sure you've got the right type of item as well as the precise ingredients!
Hand over those discount charms. I can't have you bankrupting poor ol' Gheed!
