Now, my fair and boil-afflicted readers alike, I shall tell you the story of how I lost the last of my past fortunes on the greatest of Amazon islands, Philios, south of the main continents of Sanctuary. Don't stop perusing my wares all the while, of course.
Though I spent the majority of my so-called retirement relaxing in the harems and smokehouses of Lut Gholein, a city that offers a man like Gheed everything for which he could ask, eventually I became a little restless. I longed for the days of yore, in which I had not but a few romances with the most wild and beautiful amazons I'd ever set my eyes on, firey in a very literal sense: In particular I recall narrowly escaping multiple shots of flaming arrows whilst being ousted from the abode of one of those ladies when she unexpectedly came home early to find me between enchanted satin sheets with her two younger apprentices. What can I say, I have a weakness for a cute pair of scantily clad blondes in leather armor mini-skirts. Those were better times.
Thus I booked myself a little holiday down south, to enjoy the sights, the women, and the sea. During the days I spent my time leisurely enjoying a good many ice-cold ales on the beach while appreciating the variety of cloth bikinis worn by other tourists and more-so the leather duel bras of the amazon guards. At night I'd stumble into the gambling venues but a short stroll from my luxurious resort, only to enjoy several more ales and the company of amazons only delighted to serve me. The booze softened the tinges of nostalgia as I thought of all those ladies of yore, passed by and gone from the opportunity to seek revenge from poor ol' Gheed. (They seem to disagree on precisely who's the true victim of my restless heart.)
I sat myself down at various tables, from the standard affairs of Roulette d'Arreat, Khanduras Overthrow Poker and 21 to Farnham's Ruse (my favorite, for of course I can outdrink all but the rare occurences of barbarians). This was all and good, for as one would only expect, Gheed is an extremely skilled gambler even under intense intoxication, sensory or chemical. In fact, to the shock of each little casino, if you could call them that, at the very least I broke even if not making a sizable profit.
It was that way until that fateful night... But you'll have to stay tuned for next week's conclusion!

Mr. Gheed:
Please enlighten me about the benefits of Multi-shot vs. Guided Arrow. I hear that GA is the best and so on and so forth, but I can't see how one arrow that always hits can be better than 15 arrows that with a little hand-eye coordination and dexterity(which you need to boost if you want to use the good bows) that will hit most of the time. I've made four Amazons so far and I find that by lvl 20 or so that I've messed up and I'd like to take this one all the way. Thanks for your time.

Both Multiple Shot and Guided Arrow are indispensable skills, though some prefer Strafe to Multiple Shot.
However, if you're comparing Multiple Shot and Guided Arrow directly, you need only consider the situation of a superunique (or unique even) monster offering considerable challenge. Multiple shot is a bit of a waste for that situation, which does indeed come up often. Multiple Shot comes at a cost to damage, knocking off a fourth of your damage for a tradeoff of a few, several, or many arrows at once, but that won't help you out facing Duriel or Diablo, for that matter.
Guided Arrow offers a considerable damage bonus, +95% to be exact, when maxed out. Its Mana cost is also considerably less than that of Multiple Shot. Let's not forget a primary feature of Guided Arrow, too, the fact that it's precisely targeted to follow and hit your chosen foe.
Don't forget to introduce me to your Amazon, I'm sure she'll take quite a liking to the suave and charming Gheed.

There surely have been Diablo action figures, though why one would want a miniature version of that horrific Lord of Terror in their homestead is beyond my imagination. Unfortunately every shop across the great continents of Sanctuary, even Gheed's own, are all but sold out of those acton figures. You can find them at inflated prices online, on eBay, or perhaps Craigslist.
Surely something from my store can be of more use to you at a chaotic time such as this?

I have some questions concerning the assassin skills dragon talon and dragon tail.
Dragon talon has a "Kick damage %" added. How is this calulated?
Also the dragon talon gets more kicks at higher levels. Are the power-ups applied with each kick?

Hail and first of all, good questions!
There are formulas for a couple of your questions. Kick damage, in general, is calculated as follows:
Min/MaxDamage = Minimum and Maximum Damage of kick
skill_bonus = Where the bonus from Dragon Talon, for example, is factored in
BootMin/MaxDam = Minimum and Maximum damage from equipped boots' statistics
StrBonus = Bonus from Strength attribute
str = Strength (numerical)
dex = Dexterity (numerical)
Power-ups are applied with each kick, indeed.
Dragon Tail's fire damage bonus appears to be calculated purely as a percentage bonus to fire damage one has added by items or other skills.
Ultimately, when the skills are maxed out and combined with Tiger Strike, for example, Dragon Tail is more likely to give you damage into the thousands per kick, so that's what I'd recommend. Check out the discussion of PDF and this Kick Calculator.

I quote an early Gheed column:
Well, a defense rating on armor affects the amount of damage you take when you get hit. For instance, someone with a defense rating of zero will take full hits from a monster as opposed to someone with a defense rating of 500 who will take much less of a beating when they get hit by something. I don't have an exact figure on what the ratio of damage to defense rating is, although I can tell you that it's very important to have lots of it.
That is WRONG! That is just plain WRONG!!!! I don't know if you were intentionally trying to be funny or something, but you shouldn't mislead like that.
Defense rating has NOTHING to do with how much damage you take, only with the *probability* of getting hit. If you fail your dodge roll, you will take the same damage whether you're wearing a gothic plate or your grandma's apron. (Unless of course the armor has some sort of damage reduction magic attribute, but thats different)
You should correct this. It's a common error that a site like planetdiablo shouldn't propagate.

Thanks for your concern and report, but do settle down there with the caps.
In fact, I never intended to suggest that Defense Rating had anything to do with calculating the damage taken. Nonetheless, as you also pointed out, it affects your chance to be hit -- That's the point. The lower chance to be hit, the less damage one takes, and that is a major incentive to have as high a defense rating as one can possibly achieve.
However, Gheed does see how my response could have been taken that way. Thus, I've published this for clarification for anyone else concerned. Back to gamblng with you!
