Welcome all tradespeople-- gather around and listen as your favorite gambling machine takes you on the ride of your life. Well, I have a short tale of my travels in Kurast, as well as areas south of the Rogue Encampment. Surely you might be interested in finding out how I survived the hordes of minions sent by Baal-- by the way, they aren't becoming uncommon anywhere in Sanctuary! Swore that I saw a group on my way across the desert to Lut Gholein. On arriving in Lut Gholein, I found that I was lucky enough to arrive just a half-hour before the next departure of Meshif's ship to Kurast. I'd rather not spent a second longer in that barren wasteland; besides being hot and smelly, that damn Elzix (my arch-enemy) lives there.
When I entered Kurast, the devastation from Mephisto and his loyal bands of demons had already begun to break in favor of a tropical paradise sort of feel. Oh, yes, Meshif, who was vacationing as well, was kind enough to show me around the Docks area, where Hralti was still living. By the way-- Meshif is an interesting character; I brought a little portable case full of goods any warrior would have prized, and I'm almost completely sure he was taking a little peek at the contents when I had my back turned-- can't trust those sailors. I was enjoying his presence and willingness to show me around, but that became to decrease after about three hours of touring. Can we say "Boooring?"
Back to Hralti. Well, while this chump looks completely peaceful, he put up quite a fight when I tried to set up shop in front of his hut-store. I would think that a little business with the foreign folk would have made them happy... or at least gained me a small bit of gold. Turns out that not that many travellers are interested in unique bucklers anymore. Where have my people gone? I did get my hands on a few customers that I'd like to specially name "Gullablists," and I bet you can't guess why. That's just it-- I nearly emptied their savings from convincing them to gamble their hearts out. Oh well, that was half the fun. I did also let them sell the equipment that turned out to be worth crap (let's just say 100%), though at quite a fraction of the normal trading price. Thank Tyreal for stupid members of society. How else would I keep up my high life style?
Anyway, Hralti was almost the only one left at the Docks because the rest had moved back into their usual homes, now that the lands were safe (for the moment, at least). I was expecting to see Ormus standing around the central area, but he must have moved back into the Kurast Bazaar as most natives have. The strange thing is-- the Docks look the most run down now that the city-state has been cleared of monsters. Not many seem to care about the remnants of their temporary sanctuary. I suppose that they weren't expecting many tourists either-- not a very attractive place while under that terror.
After renting a few beasts of burden, I ventured into the lower areas of the main part of Kurast (what some would call Lower Kurast), and got some sleep at a cheap local motel. This depends on what you would define as "cheap." When I was just a young merchant (though quite handsome-- the girls never left me alone!), the Kurast hotels were at least half the cost of today's-- just disgusting. That's what I get for searching out a place to stay but requiring it to have "HBO." Still, my days of adventuring are quite over, and it's time for me to live in luxury. The problem is, the nearest strip club (female, of course), is all of 12 miles away from Kurast! Such an injustice.
Next week I'll bring you more of the stories of my travels, but for now, on to answering questions and comments that you have sent in!
