Atma: Agent with sinister motives?

An ongoing investigation by the Inquirer has uncovered evidence that Lut Gholein resident Atma is more than just your ordinary damsel in distress. Instead she may be conducting many bizarre experiments. “Ever since those damn claw vipers put our world in constant darkness, she has been acting very suspicious,” said a town resident, who did not want to be identified. “Every time some hero would come around and break the curse, she would take a trip out into the desert and the next thing you know it was dark again. Word has it that Radament was her henchman until they got into an argument. She could have killed him herself, but she didn’t want to go into the sewers. So she conned some hero into doing it for her.”

Another resident shared his shocking story. “I don’t do much these days. But I used to be a great hero. And I don’t think that I’m supposed to remember that. From day to day, the city and its people look different. I swear that buildings have been moved and people I’ve known for ages have disappeared. I wake up to find that my armor has been replaced. I can remember that I’ve been accomplished with the sword all my life. So what am I doing with this axe? I’ve tried to leave, but there are barriers everywhere, except for a few narrow canyons which lead to the same places I’ve always been. I think Atma is controlling it all somehow. Even Drognan can’t help me. If I even talk about her, he changes the subject. I guess it’s bearable for the most part. But I swear if I wake up wearing Isenhart’s Case again, I’m gonna go berserk.”

New affixes for items announced

The Inquirer is proud to reveal some of the new uber-prefixes that can appear on items in the 1.10 patch. These prefixes will be the most powerful ones to appear in the game so far. The following is the list of the ones that can appear on magical weapons:

Volcanic +250-400 Fire Damage
Frigid +70-280 Cold Damage
Electric Chair +1-700 Lightning Damage
Nuclear +500 Poison Damage over 8 seconds
Ultra-Godly +201-300% Enhanced Defense
Swiss Cheese's Add 6 Sockets
Freakin' Lucky 200% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items
Bovinicidal 500% Damage vs. Cows
Owning 301-400% Enhanced Damage
1337 +2 per clvl to Maximum Damage, +2 per clvl to Chance of Getting Magic Items
Uber +3 to All Skills

The bad news is that any time one of the uber-prefixes spawns, one of the following noober-suffixes will spawn with it:

Of the Cursed 13% Chance to Cast Level 1 Amplify Damage on self on striking
Of the Unlucky 5% Chance to Cast Level 13 Fist of the Heavens on self on attack
Of the Lame Run Speed = Walk Speed
Of the Idiot 10% Chance to Cast Level 5 Iron Maiden on self on striking
Of the Graceless -50% Total Attack Rating
Of the Owned -50% Total Damage
Of the Blind -50% Total Better Chance of Getting Magic Items
Of the Loser -2 to Maximum Damage per clvl
Of the Moron 3% Chance to drop all equipped items on the ground on attack
Of the Noob -2 to All Skills

Travel advisory issued for Lut Gholein

The Diablo II Disease Control Center has issued a travel warning for Lut Gholein due to a recent outbreak of nooberculosis there. All heroes and travelers are advised not to come to the city if possible. The warning has prompted concerns that similar warnings may be issued for Kurast and Harrogoth. Nooberculosis is an infectious disease marked by symptoms ranging from mild annoyance to all out hostility. Although noobs do not contract the disease, they are carriers who can easily transmit it to veteran players.

According to multiple sources, the minions of Hell have stationed a checkpoint just outside the portal, and are detaining anyone asking stupid questions or wearing equipment combinations that don’t make sense. And a very famous hero, who asked not to be identified, and who recently traveled to Lut Gholein for a tournament said, “I’m not going anywhere. If you need me, I’ll be in my room.”

Pindleskin retires, closes up shop

Pindleskin dropped his last item at approximately 2:30 AM (GMT) last night, his inventory fully depleted after he ceased ordering new items a month ago. Now on a trip into Nihlathek’s Temple, heroes will still see groups of undead, but Pindleskin will no longer be among them. “I guess years of continually fighting heroes, many of them thousands of times, took its toll on him,” said a spokesman. When asked if Pindleskin will go on a vacation or retire to a haunted house, he replied, “No, he’s just looking forward to lying on the ground and never getting up.” In a fitting sendoff to his legacy, the last item he dropped was an Isenhart’s Case breast plate.
