I logged in and tried to formulate how I wanted to continue. As I increased levels and become more invested in the character I start to see an increasing need for more Life. I will plan on allocating more points towards Vitality.
I joined a game with six players that quickly filled up to eight. The game had just started and the other players were trying to get to Tristram. I decided to party with the group and join in the quest.
A little way into Stony Plains I came across a chipped Sapphire and added that to my mercenary's bow to give her an extra little punch. When we came to Rakanishu, the lightning enchanted boss that hangs around the Cairn Stones, I held back avoiding the lightning and let my mercenary assist the group in the kill. I had to feed her two Healing Potions due to the damage she was receiving from the other creatures that had mobbed her. I kept my distance from Rakanishu but cleaned out the surrounding monsters assisted by various party members. We then proceeded to find the waypoint.
I used the waypoint to return to town and sold the various items I had found (a wand, magic boots, etc).
One of the party members had put up a Town Portal to the Underground Passage, found in my absence, so I used that to join back up with the group. We proceeded to work our way through the Underground Passage towards the Dark Wood. When we finally came to the tunnel exit I threw up a Town Portal as a precaution. Actually, this was an ingrained habit from my days playing normal Diablo II. Some habits are hard to break. I noticed that en-route to Dark Wood I had gained another two levels! Not wanting to miss out on the experience I decided to delay the distribution of the awarded points and proceeded into Dark Wood to assist in retrieving the scroll from the Tree of Inifuss.
As we searched for the Tree of Inifuss, I found my mercenary to be of great help. I concentrated most of my efforts on the Corrupt Rogues we came across allowing my mercenary to deal with the myriad of other creatures. Someone in the group yelled "here" and I quickly used my Auto-map feature to locate them and rush over. They were running from Treehead Woodfist and five Wendigo of the "Brute" variety who guard the Tree of Inifuss. A Druid and I engaged Treehead Woodfist along with the Druid's two Spirit Wolves while the other party members either cast spells or shot arrows from a distance. I kept my peripheral vision on my Life globe and whenever it reached half full I hit one of my quick keys to drink a potion. I wanted to take no chances on dying from a good hit from Treehead Woodfist. I ended up drinking two Healing Potions during that battle.
One of the party members grabbed the scroll and went back to town while the rest of us continued to look for the waypoint. We encountered and killed a couple of monsters in our search and once we found it, we used it to get back to town.
Upon arrival in town, I noticed that I had gained another level. I now had three levels of skill and statistic points to distribute.
Level 10: 5 Vitality, Sword Mastery (6)
Level 11: 5 Vitality, saved the skill point
Level 12: 5 Dexterity, 1 Stun, 1 Stamina
I chose to invest a little in Dexterity as I realized I needed more to use some of the swords that Charsi was selling.
After distributing my skill and attribute points, I used a Town Portal from one of the other party members to get to Tristram and entered to find them engaged in battle. I edged up to take on Griswald who was working against a Golem and the Druid. I proceeded to hack at his back and after a little work Griswald collapsed to the ground. I wasn't quick enough to pick up any items that dropped, although I did see a ring and a magic bow briefly. We then proceeded to clear the area, of which I centered my attention on the Champion monsters in the center of town. We freed Cain from his cage and returned to the Rogue Encampment.
Upon arriving at town we ambled off to see Akara and she rewarded us with magic rings. As I was lacking in this area the ring she handed me helped! The ring's attributes were "+1 Stamina", "Fire Resist +5%", and "+2 to Dexterity".
One of the party members had the Outer Cloister waypoint so we went there via his Town Portal and made quick work of the center area of the Cloister before taking on the wings. We found the entrance to the Barracks in the top wing and proceeded inside. I went to make a Town Portal and noticed that I was out so I quickly went back to the waypoint and went to town to buy some scrolls. Upon returning, I had to run quite a ways to catch up to the team. By the time I reached them my quest button had appeared as they had taken down The Smith and were moving onto the Jail. I asked a couple of times in the Jail if they had picked up the Malrus for Charsi's quest. Apparently nobody had thought to do that so I ran back up to the Barracks, killed a couple of Skeletons off along the way and retrieved the Malrus. I returned it to Charsi, thus fulfilling the quest. She granted me an Imbue. I opted to not use the Imbue at this time, as I will wait until I find an elite item to use it on.
I asked for Town Portal from the party and joined them in the Jail Level 1. We proceeded to clear out the Jail levels and made our way to the Inner Cloister where I got the waypoint and transported back to town.
In the process of clearing Tristram, The Barracks and The Jail, I had once again lost track of my experience and was pleased so see that I had gained another two levels. But alas, my time had come to call it an evening. I decided to wait until my next session to level up.
