Today I arrived in the Rogue Encampment, after having heard of the rogues having problems with various evil monsters. Upon entering the Encampment, I went to speak to Akara, who told me of a place called the Den of Evil, and implored me to seek out this place and kill the creatures within.
So, armed only with my trusty staff, I ventured forth into the Blood Moor. Here I was attacked by some Zombies and Spike Fiends, all of whom were dispatched with a few blows of my staff. Whilst searching for the entrance to the Den of Evil, I came across an abandoned house. On its porch was a chest, and within a rare Buckler and a suit of Superior Leather Armour. Unfortunately, both items had a Strength requirement of fifteen (my strength was currently ten), so I resolved to boost my Strength at the first opportunity.
A few minutes walk from the house was the entrance to the Den of Evil. I wasn't surprised the house had been abandoned seeing as it was so close to a demon spawning ground. Against my better judgment, I ventured inside...
Once inside the Den, I proceeded to explore. The first creature I came across was a massive Gargantuan! My god, he was easily twice my height! Urging myself to be strong, I bludgeoned the creature to death with my staff, but unfortunately suffered some loss of health. A quick swig from a Healing potion soon put things to rights. I quickly searched the body and found only a few pieces of gold. I pocketed this for later.
Moving deeper into the Den, I found tribes of Fallen with Fallen Shamans. Upon killing the first such group, I gained a level.
Level 2:
+5 Strength
+1 Ice Armour (Need the defence boost as most creatures will get to me before I kill them.)
One of the creatures in the group dropped a Superior Throwing Knife. I promptly equipped the knife, as well as my rare Buckler and suit of armour. The next group of Fallen fell much more easily. The Throwing Knife proved very useful, allowing me to attack for 6 to 14 points of damage from a distance, dealing much more damage than any of my spells would allow at this stage. After killing numerous groups of Fallen and the odd Zombie and Gargantuan, I managed to level up.
Level 3:
+3 Energy, +2 Vitality
+1 Ice Bolt (Purely as a pre-requisite, although it may prove useful against some creatures.)
In the deepest, darkest corner of the Den, I came across the foulest creature of all: The zombie known as Corpsefire. Thankfully, his Zombie friends proved no match for my throwing knives, so I was left unscathed to confront this abomination. A mighty battle ensued, where I threw knives and cast Ice Bolt, all the while running around, dodging his fearsome blows. Finally, I managed to secure the killing blow, and he exploded in a shower of blood, dropping a magic Dagger and some magic Boots.
After taking a few seconds to catch my breath, I opened a Town Portal and returned to Akara. Needless to say, she was mightily impressed with my heroism, gifting me with a free skill point as a reward!
Quest Reward: One skill point.
+1 Warmth (Need some Mana regeneration for later.)
Whilst strutting around the camp, I was approached by Kashya, who told me of an abomination in the graveyard! Not one to shy away from abominations in any form, I agreed to seek out this fallen Rogue, who went by the name of Blood Raven, and put an end to both her and her undead army of the night!
