Howdy
folks! As the Champion of this here mail complex, I
would like to take this moment to welcome you to the
month of October. The month of spookiness and terror
(or for some, cheap, half-eaten candy from the third
world). Nonetheless, October is of the number "8."
This is especially important since the number eight
comes after the number seven and precedes the number
nine.
Lost? Well, so am I! Anyway, let's move on...
Next Week's Topic Will Be:
You've heard all those arrogant slayers on how their
way to beat Diablo is the best, yet you know better:
Share any special techniques you used or some particularly
entertaining experiences when confronting Diablo! Send
us your thoughts!
Now on to the feedback on last week's topic in
which we asked you
toshare
your thoughts on Blizzard's
recent update to their running Expansion Set FAQ section,
what do you think of the expansion now? Have any specific
gripes for them? Praises? Both?.
Here's
what you guys had to say:

dear planetdiablo,
the first thing i would like to talk about for the new
expansion pack is the resolution factor. people bitch
and complain about the graphics. the resolution this
and the resolution that, what these fools fail to understand
is...the game engine they used cant have your screen
packed with 20-40 monsters with you and your friends
running about shooting lightning, arrows, and other
sh*t without some sacrifices. if they increased the
resolution the game would have been slow as sh*t, and
now what fun would that be? because of everybodys f**king
bullsh*t, blizzard isnt going to make another 2d game.
i f**king love 2d games, so f**k all you who complained
about the resolution.
the nudity factor. why did they screw with it? in diablo
1 it was great i saw dead naked people and naked female
monsters...you could even see public hair [public
hair? Umm] and nipples. in diablo 2 there is
nudity, sort of, but you cant see anything. all i can
think is what a disapointment. where have all the nipples
gone?! i hope very much that in the expansion we have
nipples and [expletive]
for all.
the price factor. the expansion pack is 30 dallors,
30 dallors?! [Wow, it's 30 units
in the dallor currency too? What a coincidence!]
i can buy most games for 30 bucks. if its only 1/4 the
length of the origional game it should be 1/4th the
price. i could deal with it being 19.99, an average
price for an addon, but 30? hell no.
other misc..
--they should just rewrite the code for battle.net,
its so damn screwed up as it is. instead of trying to
hack new features into an aging program, they should
have just started over again. i dont think they will
do it for this expansion pack but i hope they do it
sometime in the future...cause battle.net is f**ked
up.
--set items need to be more powerfull.
--and there needs to be more player interaction, maybe
introduce spells that allow you to control other players
and/or revive dead players bodies.
--i would like to see features that would allow team
battles, instead of just deuls you could use your party
teams as armies and go head to head with another party.
you could even have capture the flag. (this would be
easy for them to program.)
--another thing that would be nice is a level editor.
ok ive said enough,
I
hate to start off the mailbag with a cruel sting of
pubescent ramblings, but, alas, we need a jolt to get
ourselves going. After getting past the excessive cursing,
one can form a somewhat coherent body of writing which
states the following: Me want resolution to stay the
same and my 13 year-old hormones satisfied. End of sad
story.

Subject: FAQ
section, what do you think of the expansion now?
Well looking forward to it but missing the things I
want to see:
I see no mention of new difficulty levels. If you have
a character at level 80 hell aint exactly hard to do.
I'd like to see another 2 difficulty level and the upper
level cap set much much higher. Perhaps JUST on closed
B.net to avoid the limp wristed cheaters from creating
level 5000 sorceresses :-)
That and the ability to kick people from a game you
start. To be able to see which act the games creater
is in would be nice when browsing games (and what quests
can be done by visitors to that game).
The change in hostility so that BOTH players have to
go hostile with each other before they can kill. Along
with the inability to use ANY potions or TPs when in
hostile mode. I mean if you really gotta duel then make
it interesting.
Yes, we all long for such features. But sometimes even
the most trivial can be overlooked.

Amazon, bad dueler? Hi, I have a level 19 amazon, still
working on her big time, she is only in act 1 u see...
And one day, I started a fight with this level 26 necromancer,
I like duelling higher levels, since I have a bow that
does 19 - 34, wich is rather high, I tought I would
win easily, but the necromancer was sooo weak, he used
curses all the time, and then he ran after me, trying
to hit me..., I shot some arrows at him, but it made
only 1/30 of his life or something, damn, an amazon
is weak, I tought to myself.....
Ok, just proceed to hide behind that pillar of saltine
crackers before I wap you with an oversize canteen.
It's most obvious you used extraordinary means to get
to the level you're at (Ahem, cheating). A Level 19
in Act I? Heh. The value of your experiences is slim
to none. Come back when you have sincere experiences
to share.

Hello Root, Mailbag
Champion. [Greetings, noble sir]
I know you're not going to believe this [then
why tell me?], but after buying Diablo 2 a week
after release, I started a barbarian, and having much
free time, played him for around 2 hours a day, since
now. The result of that is that he is now level 99 and
has some SWEET stuff. (Told you you wouldn't believe
me. Am I right? Or am I wrong? [I'll
ask the questions around here...]) Anyway, I
decided to face some lvl 69 paladin on Open Battle.net.
[What a noble act!] Evil
lag! It brought me on a silver platter my pathetic downfall.
I leap attacked him, missed, ran away, and found myself
dead a few seconds later. That demonic paladin (oxymoron?)
had killed me! I had not seen him run up, nor cast any
ranged spell like blessed hammer, and anyway, my life
was 500! Please don't hesitate to laugh, as I don't
really care anymore anyway.
Wow. Sure nice to know that you can fire up an exact
copy of him a few seconds later...
