Mod of the Week

I don't think I've ever seen that many uniques in one place before.

The Enhanced Gameplay Mod (By Threshold)

Before we start, let me say one thing, 'THIS MOD IS NOT 1.09 COMPATIBLE. Now Then... The Enhanced Gameplay Mod can be summarized in a single word, unique. Why unique? Because that is all you will see if you play this mod. Gold here, gold there, damn near every item will be a unique. While I enjoy this game play mechanic in single player and LAN games (nobody likes to have all their friends over to play D2 without getting something nice out of it) I can't help but think that people (because people suck) will just play this mod and take their unique items online to trade. I really hate it when I see this, but I see it a lot, and it is giving modding in general a bad name online. How many times have we seen some unbelievably uber kit hacked item online? This really needs to stop.

But if used for non-evil purposes this mod has quite a few up points. As I stated previously, the mod is wonderful on a LAN because of the drop rates, splitting booty is hardly ever the punching kicking hate-fest it once was, and with runes dropping like mad, runewords are feasible at one sitting. Having more people will also make up for the decided lack of difficulty modification here, while the readme states that bosses and the like have been substantially beefed, I have seen nearly no change in them.

In closing, if you're into LAN play, and like quick gratification, this mod is for you, just don't expect a revolution in modding. By the way, someone e-mailed me a death threat, and said there were monkeys in this mod. I have seen no monkeys. I hate you.

Highs: If I had a penny for every unique that dropped in this game, I would have like two bucks.
Lows: Some useless bastard will be peddling his wares, making open battle net even more of a hackfest.

   Strategy

This mod requires only one major change in strategy

  • Inventory: With unique items dropping all of the time, a nearly empty inventory is a must if you want to steal all of the great bounty without having to stop and dump that last poison charm.

Why do you read this? It's always just me telling you to download The Mod of the Week.

P.S. I'd like to thank a couple of people, Debi, And Bob S. After losing two characters and a load of items a few weeks back on US East, D&B helped me get back on my feet on the Realms. They provided my practically naked ass with a ton of help, and I'd like to thank them!
