Poll #20 - What do you think of the Diablo II Demo?

Start: January 15, 2001
End: January 22, 2001
Description:
Blizzard Entertainment had recently just released the version 1.04 Diablo II Demo, a first glimpse at the game for those who had not already bought the product, around the time that this poll question was used, and it was the hot topic. The Demo turned out to be a slightly modified version of what was the second phase of Diablo II's Beta test, known as the "Stress Test." The Demo allows you to play only as the Barbarian character class, in the first few areas of the game -- the Rogue Encampment, the Blood Moor, Cold Plains, and Burial Grounds. However, this demo was released quite a while after the initial release of Diablo II -- which was the beginning July 2000. We used this poll to determine your opinion on the topic.
Results:
- A fun introduction to the game. - 112 - 16.7%
- Bah, humbug. Too late! - 404 - 60.1%
- Sqwack! - 156 - 23.2%
Commentary:
The Acolyte: Blizzard Entertainment was a bit late (*cough*) releasing a demo of Diablo II, as everyone knows, but over 37,000 fans downloaded the ~130MB preview from FilePlanet alone.
Chicken: *flutter* *flutter*
The Acolyte: Now, this demo only allows you to venture into three areas of Act I outside the town, but does provide a nice glimpse at the gameplay that you get with the full game. Many fans seem to think that this demo was too late, and in effect unnecessary, but we want to see what you think.
Chicken: Sqwack!
The Acolyte: Um... I said, no more wild animals! We have enough to deal with, knowing our monkey Root has to be defleaed twice a week in normal condition!
Chicken: Sqwack!
The Acolyte: Shut up! If you weren't poor and defenseless like the rest of you animals, I would fry you up in a jiffy. Just wait till we get to massive cloning.
Chicken: Sqwack! Sqwack! Screech!
The Acolyte: Ack! Mein eyes!
