Taps for the bowanec.

I can hardly remember any funerals I have been to with a few exceptions. I have recalled as I am typing this my mother's funeral in 1994 and all the people there. It is a little sad but you adjust to losses over the years. I miss you mom.

I am not going to miss the most recent departee from my character list. My bowanec had his funeral this weekend. He died with these vital statistics:

  • Strength: 110
  • Dexterity: 115
  • Vitality: 40
  • Energy: 40

Lets play back that funeral tape on file Joe....

As he lay in his coffin he looks spiffy in his Silks. Victorious often in them, in hell he packed little punch. The Buriza (166%) by his side served him not nearly as well as it does the buxom lady in the first row who is here to claim it. She was considerate to loan it to him and will be happy to get it back. She has been awfully excited and keeps saying something like, "Goin' magic shopping tonight." His immediate family is planning on selling his other wares, I understand, including those Jordan stones, his Frostburn, the King Leoric wand, Tearhaunch and Bladebuckle. He liked his peasant's hat, which added skill and with him that will lay in rest. I believe the priest is about to speak, so I will be quiet to see what he has to say. I understand they exorcized some demons in nightmare together.

Priest: "It is with great distress that we are all here today to honor a man who tried valiantly to rid our world of evil. He was ultimately overcome because his new weapon against evil was insufficient in the hell he tried to free us from. I believe the damage with his crossbow was less than with his spirit. His bow dealt around 300-450 and his spirit nearly 500. Yes, his spirit drained his mana more but his bow did not pierce as he was told it would, and he could not freeze well with it, either.

He was remorseful in his final days and spoke of wasted Dexterity. "If only I had known," he would say. But, perhaps others can learn from his demise. He had a quick life and was only 56 at his death. Some might say he lived too fast and he should not have been past his nightmarish middle age, yet. But when fighting evil, you must advance rapidly when openings appear. I remember helping him with Baal's minions in nightmare and even then felt Hasaan his Thorns mercenary was more of an aide than his bow. Hasaan was not ready for hell, either, and tried as did the Fire Golem to protect him, to no avail. I am saddened to think that our friendship will be over. Now let us pray..."

Well, it was shocking to see the tape of his funeral. I have another engagement I must get to. I'm taking (yes, I asked her name) Miss 'Zon shopping tonight.

Until next time...

Happy New Year to everyone! Enjoy it while it lasts, because soon enough, you will have to be going back to school or work!

There are a couple different choices when you are starting an Amazon.

  1. Bowazon (My Personal Favorite)
  2. Javazon
  3. Tankazon
  4. Bow/Javazon (Hybrid)

Bowazon:

This type is my personal favorite! My suggestions would be to get a nice bow such as a Windforce or a Buriza. The things you want to do for a Bowazon are to get use only the necessary attribute points for Strength, some Vitality points, and the rest all in Dexterity.

The skills you want to use are (maxed) Critical Strike, Strafe, and Guided Arrow; you might want to put some extra points into Multiple Shot, but it only increases the amount of arrows that are shot, so I don't really like it that much. Distribute your skill points so that you can get a Valkyrie, and put about 10 points into this skill for a tank assistant. Also put points into Penetrate and Pierce to deal more damage to your enemies. Evade, Dodge, and Avoid aren't needed for a Bowazon because enemies are not suppose to be up close to you, anyway.

Javazon:

She is not really my favorite of the Amazon sub-classes, but I do have a Javazon. I would equip this type with a nice Javelin, such as Titan's Revenge, or a nice Pike, Lance, or War Pike with Increased Attack Speed.

For a Javazon, you want more attribute points into Strength, some points in Dexterity, and no more than 100 in Vitality. Critical Strike is a must have skill, to max out. The other skills you need are Lightning Fury and Fend, and you need to have points in Evade, Dodge, and Avoid, since you are up close to the enemies. I would also arrange enough points into Valkyrie so you can have a tank with you.

Tankazon:

No actual Amazon skills are there you help you fight your way though the enemies for this type of Amazon, but you do have some Passive and Magic skills to help you out. First I would find a great one-handed sword, such Lightsabre. Also find a nice shield with a high defense rating, something like Gerke's Sanctuary. Like the Javazon, more Strength is needed than Dexterity. Max out points in Critical Strike and Valkyrie. Inner Sight works wonders for the Tankazon. When you are up close and "tanking," you must have Evade, Dodge, and Avoid.

Hybridzon:

This is the newest of the Amazon choices. I had a Hybridzon before the strategies came out for it. Now, since you have to work all three of the skill trees in and you only have a limited amount of skill points, it is best that you know what you are doing before you actually start with your character.

Having points in the Passive skills works wonders. Maxing Critical Strike works well, just like it does with the other Amazon sub-classes. Dodge, Evade, and Avoid aren't too bad to have, as well. Pierce and Penetrate will help.

Now here is the tricky part: which skills do you want to have points in? For bow skills, Strafe and Guided Arrow are good to have. For Javelin and Spear skills, I would use Fend and Lightning Fury.

As a summary:

  • Bowazon: Max Critical Strike, Strafe, and Guided Arrow.
  • Javazon: Max Critical Strike, Fend, and Lightning Fury.
  • Tankazon: Max Critical Strike, Valkyrie, and Inner Sight.
  • Hybridzon: Max Critical Strike.

So, all the Amazons need to have Critical Strike, and depending on the Amazon you choose, make sure you do these things.

I wish you all a Happy and Joyous New Year; until next week.
