State of the Forums

Moderator: Stomper

So what is going on in our little corner of the world?

First and foremost, many of you may have noticed, but we now have a Complete Forum Rules link on our forums. Where is it? Why it's that little yellow link at the top of the Forum pages. So if you get a chance, take a look and read them. This way we (ahem - the moderators) don't have to bring out our ugly sticks and beat some sense into a few of you! Not that I won't anyway 'cause I'm just plain mean! Heh, heh.

And now for something truly different...

What's going on in the world of PlanetDiablo. First and foremost, trading, trading, trading. So you just can't find that item you need? You don't trust the trade channels? Well stop on into the Market Place forums and post your needs or take a look at what others have listed on their trade lists. You can pretty much rest assured that we police our own and that everything we've got is legit. That and you can find really good deals here on the site as we tend to help each other out a lot.

But as a side note - I'd like to talk about trading principals and what you might have that is worth trading. First, "Runes" have become the coin of trade. And not just specific runes - pretty much all runes. Everything from Thuls on up can be traded and value received in turn. Lately, Lum, Ko, Lem & Pul runes have gained better trade values. These mid-level runes can demand a good price. I've seen many good uniques be traded for these runes (especially the Pul). And of course, all the runes above Pul have been generating serious trade considerations. Jah, Ber and Vex are currently carrying the heaviest weight in trading.

Also you can trade Perfect Gems pretty effectively. Not so much on our site (although I do take Perfect Gems for various items in trade) but I have seen Perfect Gems getting some decent play on Battle.net. For Example - last night (3/8/04) I traded 10 Perfect Gems for a Crescent Moon. That's a good deal in my book. I also noted that a Shaftstop was going for about 40 Perfect Gems. So ... If you are having trouble finding runes to trade - start stockpiling Gems on a mule. It can be worthwhile!

And back to our regularly scheduled program...

Here's the current inside look at what's HOT at PlanetDiablo. Check out these threads to get the inside scoop:

  • The Ex-President has provided a Bowmancer Guide that gives you a different look at the Necromancer that is fun and engaging to play!

  • Don't know how to equip your Hammerdin? Well neither did AlienTank - so he started this guide and is getting some good advice! Ultimate hammerdin gear/guide?

  • Once again, Asmodeus has put together a truly thorough guide, and this time he has dipped into the Sorceress' world. He doesn't suggest a specific "build" but he does have fantastic advice on putting your Sorceress together. Specifically how to build your Sorceress to SURVIVE in V1.10. Check it out here: The Sorceress Guide - V1.10

And once again, something different...

  • So you think you have imagination? Check out Gun Doc's Fiction in An Angelic Journey and A Mortal Return He's put a bit of a twist on our traditional fantasy setting. But what I really like is that he makes good use of dialogue that draws you into the story!

  • What's up with the runeword Delerium? I had some questions and apparently so did others. Ask yours or just find out a bit more about the quirkiness of this helm.

  • Ah, the Age Old Question resurfaces: When to use Charsi's Imbue Quest reward. I remember a time when Charsi's Imbue was to be hoarded until you were extremely high level - and certainly not used before level 30! Times have changed and Charsi just isn't the Master Smith she used to be. Maybe she's grown soft with age? Ah, but that's the misconception; or is it? Check out this link and add your thoughts, ideas, suggestions or get some from others!

Here it is, my semi-irregular, bi-whenever I feel like it =P SotF. *waits for loud cheers*

I will apologize ahead of time for the short(er) version this installment, but, um...well I have no real excuse, you will just have to live. =)

Now on to the show. For those of you that are still playing, 1.10 is still cranking along and still sparking many a conversation. One interesting topic that has come up is this one started by Ranson. In it, he asks the question "What 1.10 goals do you have?". Be sure to swing by and share any 1.10 goals you may have, or at the very least, see what others are trying accomplish. Another interesting topic that has cropped up is this one started by Pandemonium. In it, he raises the question of regular forum goers contributing to the SotFs. (what you are reading now if you haven't figured that out =) ). Share any comments questions, whatever about the subject in this topic.

I've noticed more and more mod related topics over the past couple of weeks. Is 1.10 finally wearing down for some and are they once again venturing into the world of mods? Hmm, an interesting question, one that I may have to investigate further in the coming weeks.

In non-forum news... it is March Madness. The NCAA tournament bracket has been finalized and games are starting to kick off (post your predictions in Stomper's very own post) (I will be honest, I don't follow college hoops, but I know there are a few forum goers that do). Good luck to your team! And in other sports news, the Hockey regular season is winding down. The playoffs are less then 3 weeks away, and many a team has made tons of trades/acquisitions for a playoff run. Good luck to your team as well in the upcoming Stanley Cup Playoffs (I for one will be rooting for the Colorado Avalanche!).

Well, I think that's about it for now (see? Told you it would be short). See ya on the forums!

Greetings my Fellow PDFers... *ducks a rotten tomato thrown by Rayner*

The Spring is finally approaching and aside from a few last gasps of snow (here in the US), winter finally seems to be ending which means....you guessed it, more Diablo time! Forget about going outside and frolicking with natural wildlife or causing excessive property damage with your friends, now is the time for playing.

With that, I had a similiar problem to a person in this thread: My Barb is a pansy. After tossing out a few points aimlessly, I got torched by many a corpse in Act 1...of normal. That'll teach us all to actually plan a build out.

Perhaps I should have read this thread for better tips but of course, I wanted to rush right in on a new build. There are some really great tips in there that even as a more experienced player I find very helpful.

Thats all for this week, but tune in again when Stomper and Madanark team up to face off against Sondan and Shockwav23 for a game of "Who drops fastest when bonked over the head with a 5 gallon drum of toxic waste" My bookie says he's been getting tons of calls trying to get on the action for this one. ;)
