State of the Forums

This week I found myself laughing (MAO) at many of the topics and posts found in our forums. The funniest topic award has to go to Scipio23, who has once again used his (???) talents to entertain us with an insight into the world of the moderators. If you are looking for a laugh or have a twisted sense of humor, check out Who Wants to be a Moderator? It is an enjoyable read by all accounts.

Thanks to Madanark's contribution in last week's SoTF #22, the idea of power leveling sparked quite a controversy on the forums. Members are debating both sides of the argument. So, come on in and add your voice. You can find the topic here: State of the Forums #22: "Power Leveling"

Once again, I will take into the realm of hardcore! This week, I spent some time drawing up a manual for Newbie Necromancers. I took you through my build (currently I am at level 71) and discussed what options you should try for. I am eager to hear your responses to my build and the advice you have for me and for other Necromancers. I really enjoy watching the forum and its posters grow and change. In the nine months I've been here, there have been several shifts in forum environment and attitude. Now, more than ever, the base members are strong and numerous, able to have fun and partake in very in depth intelligent discussions the next thread over. And, it's a fairly tight knit group, but at the same time, not a hard one to become part of.

Who might you ask are these people? Read on.

• Pyrolocutus: The wily veteran. He's been around as long as I have and always adds some life to topics.
  
  
• Scipio23: The quickest "legit" poster I have ever seen. Scipio is also our resident master of satire, often writing "funhouse" mirror images of recent events in the forums. For a good read, check out his topics or read some of the following: Spam Wars, 12 Easy Steps, Number of the Beast, Spam Wars II: Attack of the Clowns, and Losers Lament. Not only does he provide some great entertainment, he is also an avid participant in Diablo-related topics, asking great questions and providing good answers. I think I've lost the title of "The person who is at PD the most through the day" to him. You can be sure I'm shaking my fist at the screen, right now; I'll get my title back, yet!
  
  
• Colonel Klink: Certainly one of the high profile members, he has slowly been gaining steam. In my humble opinion, he is one of the cornerstones of the forums. Klink is always helpful, always on the lookout for misdeeds, and always contributing.
  
  
• Hank_Scorpio: One of my favorite Simpsons characters come to life! He is much the same as Colonel Klink, a true VIP.
  
  
• Shockwav23: Again, a cornerstone poster. He has helped shape the forums and is quick to assist others.
  
  
• Rayner: The quickest wit in the USEast. The newest addition to the journal writers, you have to read his. Written from a first person perspective, this is very informative and entertaining.

Add to these the up and comers who are starting to make their own marks and a lot of the people I forgot (sorry!), and things are looking pretty solid. With all of these vets providing good examples for the new members, my job as a moderator has been pretty darn easy lately.

Ah, yes, just going to kick back and relax... but keep one eye vigilant of course! ;)
