To the delight of many, if you haven't visited our newest forum addition, you should! It's the Game Play and Statistics Forum. (It's also known as Hammerman's Sandbox!) Come on in and get the down and dirty on how the game ticks!
The Hardcore forum has scene a little rejuvenation this past week. As you will note a couple of newbie guides received "sticky" awards. ("Stomper, have you no shame for gratuitously accolading your own guides?" heh, heh.) Also of note, XXX is organizing a hardcore group to bring a little sanity to the game and create some friends along the way! Check it out and ask to be a part of it. Why dont we all just ...
Speaking of new sticky threads: Scipio23's guide to barbarians was granted "stickiness"! Check out the guide: Scipio's Guide to Building an Effective Barbarian.
We are about mid-way with the Scavenger Hunt! Make sure you're keeping your lists and getting your answers! And, while we are at it, here are items #13 and #14:
- Scavenger Item #13: Who are the Hellstreet Boys?
- Scavenger Item #14: Who is the Hellstreet Boys' Manager?

Lost Assassin found in Hell mode
It has been quite some time since we reviewed the Assassin's Apothecary. When I found my player was not lost I was relieved. I have re-equipped her and she is trudging through Hell difficulty. See has some new equipment, most notably the following:
- String of Ears Belt
- Gerke's Sanctuary Pavise
- Dwarf Star Ring
These give me 44 magic reduction and 14 points plus 12% damage reduction. However, I am finding physical and fire immune monsters rampant. Fire (first Cobra Strike and part of Dragon Tail) is my best attack from a damage standpoint, so I am having a hard time in Act Three. I had to switch from the level 58 Act One Rogue with "+3 to skills" (lightning and cold alternate) to an Act Five barbarian, level 67 like me. He is susceptible and I still follow the "die three times and leave him alone for awhile" rule. I still feel he can help in certain areas. My level 9 Shadow unfortunately stinks and is no level 9 Valkyrie.
I found the Barbarian quest the easiest of all characters as I have +6 speed and forty percent speed boost in charms so I can outrun even those pesky imps. As above however, Act Three is full of fast monsters and they are many. When you get stuck on a bridge between Flayers and Gloams, it can be tricky.
I have killed the High Council and Mephisto. There were four physical immune and/or fire immune monsters, three in Mephisto's lair (including himself). I realize I could "restart" a game, but hate to after fighting through all the preliminary monsters. My trick is I let my Druid, of level 82, give my Assassin a Lightsabre so I run to town and whack these immune guys with it. My problem with non immunes is, so far, little although I have a crappy claw, magic #101.

From the apothecary, I recommend these following and again point out to those who have not heard it before that the forum is such a wealth of information. Please look from time to time in places other than active topics.
Star Wars: Love it or Leave it
There have been several topics on movies lately, especially Episode II of Star Wars. Rayner makes note of technical reasons for saying this is a poor movie and is correct, technically. I have posted a counterpoint in these because they interest me. I am brief as usual (unlike this forced writing) and feel a connection with movies in general that I convey in one of the topics.

Hello. It's been a while since I was called to serve, but I've finally got around to writing a State of the Forums address. Feel free to PM (private message) me with warm welcoming messages, Diablo II account names and passwords, and your credit card details.
I can also be found lurking around the PlanetDiablo IRC channel (#PlanetDiablo on GamesNET - irc.gamesnet.net). Come along and bask in my radiance, or just insult me like most people there do (namely Snikda Master, Damonk, Xisor, Tombstone, RoboJoe, Zancleaus, and Hammerman). You can find a Java chat client as an alternative to following instructions on how to connect using third party IRC software.
For those of us considering putting our Diablo II knowledge into print and writing a character guide, there are two posts that should be of interest to you.
First off is Ikkichm's "Things to consider before blindly following a guide" topic. In it, he makes numerous very good points on things that should be included in any guide, something I've taken on board for my Necromancer guide (a work in progress).
Secondly, there's a post from a PlanetDiablo staff member, RoboJoe. He's the new God of Strategy, and wants your guides! Read his post for more information.
And finally, I thought I'd pose a Scavenger Hunt Question. It's my first, so will probably be too easy.
