State of the Forums

Moderator: Stomper

Oh SOTF, where art thou?

I remember the days of yore when you would guide me with surety to those areas which were crucial to my indoctrination of the PDF, to those threads where information was sure to spark my imagination, to comments that were vital to the game, to...

Ah, forget it: We're back!

Believe it or not, despite the loss of our metallic team mascot, we are ready and rarin' to go. Who are we? I'm glad you asked. I'd like to present the new team although you've probably already met some of them in one form or another and remember some of us from previous run-ins.

Heading the list of our ever-popular moderators is...

  • Madanark: Our own Doctor Evil, in residence. Bring your aches and pains to his doorstep and he's sure to make you go away!

  • Shockwav23: The current bane of everyone's existence and carrying on the traditions of our dear departed mascot, Rayner. He can be found anyplace at anytime. No one is safe.

  • Big Time: In a big way; he brings back the fervor of moderating with a purpose. You think you are too small to be noticed; think again!

  • Sondan: New ideas, new methods, new evil plans! Moderation has never seen the like.

  • Os: Oh where art thou?

  • And of course, there's me, the Wizard of Oz, complete with my bag of tricks!

  • Who could forget our leader: The Acolyte. Master of the Planet, Dictator of Events, Czar of the Forums, Ruler of the World, and overall really neat guy!

Now that you've met the new team, be on the lookout for our regular appearances at a topic near you.

Since we are on the subject of "Topics near you", I'd like to direct your attention to: Debating Team Thread. This is a great opportunity for you to chime in on a debate. Pick a side, any side, but you must remain steadfast throughout the topic. Real and intelligent discussions on a variety of issues. All brought to you courtesy of "Bishop". Remember to read the rules before you post.

And while you are skimming the Off Topic forum, "Inquisitor95" has published his latest volume. Check out The PDF Inquirer, Issue 11, which is full of the top news in Diablo. Hints and allegations are flying with news over Tal Rasha's exploits (or lack thereof) as well as remembrances of theme songs! It'll be sure to make you smile.

Now of particular note, I'd like you all to run on over to our Fan Fiction Forum. There are bunch of wonderful dedicated members who have put together a plethora of stories purely for your enjoyment. Get involved! Comment on their work, start your own, or just plain read. It's a great place to express that pent up creativity that you just knew was lurking somewhere inside!

If you just can't figure out how you want to approach the game and would like a quick access point to various strategy guides in the forum, check out PDF Strategy Guide Compendium v2.0. This is a sticky in the strategy forum and is the best source to find the strategy you are looking for. Thank you, Aristabulus, for taking Scipio's original post and keeping it up to-date. Be on the lookout for new strategy guides after Blizzard finally releases v1.10. Of course, that might be awhile.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled program.

Evil Knows No Bounds!

A preposterous tale of one shiny metal man who made a difference.

Rayner, as most of you know, is no longer a moderator here at PDF, although you can still catch him lurking about in the forums. I'd like to personally thank him on behalf of the entire PDF community for doing a fantastic job. He carried the majority of the workload with regards to moderating duties this past year. He has ever strived to help this site provide the best forums in the GameSpy community. Thank you!

(all sing) R-A-Y N-E-R R-O-B-O-T...

Moderator: Big Time

Greetings to all, glad to be here with the other hooligans and scoundrels; um, I meant, Moderators.

In my first State of the Forums I decided to highlight a few threads that I've felt have been extremely productive in terms of helping people out with questions about 1.10, its effects on old characters, and more importantly the new changes that will make new builds possible and old ones obsolete (My Tri-Elemental Sorcie is still weeping uncontrollably about being retired when the patch comes out). Thankfully, instead of spending a bunch of time posting links and so forth, Spindar had compiled a good deal of this information. Please feel free to send him cash and items at any time. ;-)

I've found answers to virtually all my questions in those threads and they can all be found in the 1.10 Beta Forum. There is still a ton more testing and build exploration to do so don't stop posting your finds and telling us about your experiences with the beta. I know that many topics alone have yet to be discussed here in detail...Whirlwind Assassins, the New and improved Chain Lightening Sorceress, and of course there is always more discussion needed on Paladins! As before, there is still no word about an official release date so be patient!

Food seems to have taken center stage recently with threads about coffee, and more importantly: Most Poorly Designed food. Sometimes you just need to get a little messy to enjoy your meals. And of course, the age-old debate McDonalds vs. Burger King is on again. Personally, while neither uses burger meat that is more than 40% beef (rest is Soy fillers), you just can't escape the allure of those fries...

Lastly, the brand new PDF Fantasy NBA Basketball league may still have a few openings.

I hope to see (ban) you all soon! [He's joking, folks. No, really. -ed]
