State of the Forums

Editor's Note: This week, the State of the Forums is a bit shorter than past editions. This is because a few of our moderators are currently busy or away from home. Next week, it will all be back to normal, and you can expect a longer read!

News: Hardcore Forum! I know that a lot of users, for a while, have been demanding for the Hardcore Forum, where players could talk and chat about their hardcore ways.

Not much is happening in the forums really; it has been really slow in the past couple days since the last State of the Forums.

There have been a lot of questions about imbues and what mercenaries should be used when playing. Remember that any Normal item (white colored title) can be used to imbue any item, and you can only get Rare items (yellow colored title) after you imbue. Imbues also depend on your character level because they unlock greater item effects when you are at a higher level; but, be warned: you can also get lower level item effects even if you are at a high level.

Mercenaries depend on which character you are using:

  • Amazons should use Barbarians because they need someone to tank. Bowazons need the range, but Javazons and Spearazons need some type of ranged attacker.
  • For Assassins, it would be better to use a Rogue, because Assassins are usually tanks and Rogues would give them the advantage and range that they need.
  • Barbarians, the biggest tanks of all, need the ranged attacker as most tanks do. This is why Rogues are great as a companion for this character class.
  • On Druids, I believe that Elemental Druids would use a Barbarian or maybe the Prayer (Defensive Aura) Act 2 Mercenaries. Shape shifter Druids would want to use Rogues or maybe the cold magic Iron Wolves from Act 3.
  • Necromancers should use a Rogue for the ranged attacker support.
  • For Paladins, I would use an Act 2 mercenary, because dual auras would help out a lot.
  • Sorceresses should use Barbarians because of only one word: "Tank."

Well, Halloween went off without mishap and many a child was scared out of his/her wits! My abode was graced with about 35 kids this Halloween (less than normal, I guess, with the recent events of September 11). In any case, much fun was had by all!

The forums welcome the first full week of Hardcore Play! 12 Topics and 35 replies to this forum (as of when this was written)! Please stop in and see what all the clamor has been about; contribute your thoughts and read tips from other players!

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank three of the members who I greatly appreciate and respect for their contributions: NoSkills, Shuak and Talon. Special thanks goes to Bubonous who continues to impress me with his depth of knowledge on the Necromancer class and continually provides detailed manuals and help aids to any who will listen.

This week had its ups and downs in the forums. Of particular note there has been concern over moderating. I'd like to assure everyone that we are trying very hard to be fair and treat everyone equally. We do make mistakes at times, but we are striving to become better moderators and we appreciate your constructive criticisms and encourage you to message us should you have questions regarding the forums in particular.

It is our intention to provide all members forums free of "flames" and "spamming." Although we do not catch all (and in some cases we miss quite a bit), we will continue to improve and hopefully succeed in providing you with good support and administration.

And my favorite topic of the week: Things that piss us off ...

Made me smile - Made me laugh!

This week Madanark has been on vacation and I hope that his time away has been fun, exciting and filled with rest (assuming he wants that)! I look forward to his return!
