State of the Forums

Moderator: Sondan

As a follow up to the State of the Forum #36 where I discussed the new Treasure Classes (TC) it now appears that the number of sockets that certain head gear can spawn have changed. Here are the new number sockets that are possible to get.

  • Circlet 2
  • Coronet 2
  • Tiara 3
  • Diadem 3

But just like in patch 1.09 to get the higher number of sockets you must drop the items in the higher difficulty levels like Nightmare and Hell.

One of the best things to be resurrected from older versions of Diablo is that rares can now spawn prefixes and suffixes that make them just as good as some elite uniques. So the next time a "Big Nasty" drops a rare item, don't just leave it. It may be the best item you have never found.

Now that our beloved 1.10 patch is out, we've seen some interesting turnarounds in builds, item drops, and as Sondan mentioned some of the new game mechanics. For example, the skill Lower Resist no longer works for Bone skills (or magic damage) etc etc. There are so many that we still need to explore as well so keep on looking for those changes!

Thinking of this particular post in mind, I wanted to highlight two builds that I've felt have really felt the boost of power that 1.10 has provided. I've seen both up close and personal and can tell you that both the Overlord and the Zealot have been seriously helped out.

Does this mean that your Barbarian has no shot? Of course not, see Pandemonium's A 1.10 Guide to the Frenzy Barbarian as well as the Berserker Barb 1.10. Also, check out the v1.10 Sorceress Guide again by Asmodeous. (Does he ever sleep? the mystery remains....)

Also, don't forget about the Mailbag and send in those questions! The next topic should spark a great debate!

Lastly, for those of you who have seen this angry evil robot roaming around the site, bonking you on the head and saying "You're banned," don't worry, that's just the ghost of Rayner's Past.

As the cycle continues so does the PDF Community. The introduction of the long awaited 1.10 patch has revived many people's interest in Diablo and correspondingly their presence here at PlanetDiablo.

Welcome back to those long lost souls and welcome to the Newbies who have just picked up the virus called Diablo.

Before I get into the topics of the week. I'd like to remind everyone to carefully read all the new horadric recipes before using them. A number of the recipes changed from the beta to the actual release and more than a number of people have been left high n' dry with non rune-word items because they didn't know of the changes.

The past two weeks have produced a number of excellent topics to browse. Our local "Bishop" has produced yet another debate thread: Debate Topic #4: Noise in the Woods. If you think you know the answer and would like to spar with our resident "experts" cough please stop in and give us your opinion!

Additionally, "Music" has found its way back into the Off Topic Forum. Do you have a favorite band? Just exactly how does the music guide you?

But back to why we are really here! Diablo II v. 1.10!

Check out the Patch 1.10 Discussion Forum. Here you will find a lot of new topics ranging from frustration over the difficulty of the new patch to ideas for new builds and guides on what to do. Of particular interest to me were: Guide to upgrading Unique items and The death of chippies.

And if you are truly having problems with the difficulty of the new patch, then maybe getting a friend to help you out is the answer. Jerry Lee has created this topic to help bring those of us with needs together - A problem in 1.10, and how to solve it.
