NATO 3.5 Ship Date: Now!!!!

Updates - Q

Congratulations to Serellan at RSE on his successful release of Ghost Recon 2 for X-Box. We are still waiting to see what the PC version will look like and what kind of opportunities there will be for modding.

At last check, UbiSoft has yet to release the SDK for R6:3. With the recent announcement of R6:4, we rather doubt that we will ever be able to make a NATO mod for Raven Shield and its expansion titles.

Finally! - Q

Ghost Recon 2 has been announced for a Winter release. Thankfully, it is going to be available for the PC, and RSE appears to be tasked with its development. This is good news on all counts.

GRRR! Part 2 - Q

Is Ubisoft abandoning Ghost Recon and R6's PC-owning fan base? R6:3 Black Arrow has been announced for the X-Box, but not the PC. I must admit that R6:3 and its spin-offs have not been at the top of my acquistion list, but this still appears to be a bad trend for the release of future titles.

Serellan in the News - Q

The April edition of GMR Magazine has an interview with former ARMM member and current RSE-employee Serellan (AKA: Christian Allen). You can buy GMR at EBWorld and other Gaming type stores.

Why, oh why, is Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm being relased for the PS2 first? Hopefully, the title will eventually make it to the PC, as I need to slake my GR gaming thirst.

Sequels - Q

Maybe its just me, but I'm really more anxious to see a Ghost Recon sequel than another Raven Shield add-on. Of course, I've only played snippets of the R6:3 demo due to my video card issues, but I really didn't like how the weapons were modeled. Perhaps I'm just being a stick in the mud... Come to the ARMM forums and argue your case.

P.S.: I've updated the GameSpy Ad Banner code. How many banner ads do you see: 0, 1, or 2? Please let me know.

NATO for Raven Shield? - Q

We are getting a few requests for a NATO Mod for Raven Shield. MeanGreen and BrownFoot are up for the task, and are researching the modding possibilities with the new engine. I must admit that I'm disappointed with what I see in the Raven Shield SP Demo regarding the weapon stats. In any case, I need a new PCI graphics card that handle the game. (I received a GeForce4 MX440 64MB card as a gift from one of my buddies, but alas, I don't have an AGP expansion port.)

The RS/UO Update is in Limbo, although I think that I've developed a new work-around for the 'blank ammo' problem suffered by some players in multiplayer games with the combination of N3.5 and the Urban Operations patch v2.52. If it checks out in testing, stay tuned for a small patch.

I have continued to update the Future Weapons thread on the ARMM Forum. In addition, I have upgraded a few selected weapon briefings in the online NATO 3 Manual. Comments, corrections, and additions are always welcome.

Progress Report - Q

We are still slogging through our proposed RS/UO update. Motivation waxes and wanes...

On a more positive note, I am still updating the Future Weapons thread on the ARMM Forum. Comments, corrections, and additions are still welcome.

Open Call for Photo Editors and Modelers - Q

I have a wild hair to release another NATO 3/3.5 Update for UO prior to the release of Raven Shield. This update would consist primarily of N3 versions of the weapons released with TakeDown, Black Thorn, Raven Shield, and the Ghost Recon Series. Admittedly, many are already in N3/N3.5. For the remainder, I have most of their .wpn files already fleshed out.

However, I need people who can help assemble original inventory photos and models. Serellan can't help me build this one due to his current employment at RSE. (In a nutshell, his job is to make things that they can sell, not give away. Moreover, his involvement could be misconstrued as an endorsement of the mod by RSE.)

What do you think? Any volunteers? Check out the ARMM Forum for additional details.

Veterans' Day - Q

The members of ARMM would like to thank the men and women who have served our country in uniform during its wars and other conflicts. We honor your service and the sacrifice of those who did not return. God Bless!

Future US Small Arms Inventory (2008-2009) - Q

I have put together a monograph concerning the weapons of the Ghost Recon timeline, along with their probable configurations and accessories. I've placed a copy on the ARMM Forum. Comments, corrections, and additions are welcome.

Eureka! - Q

We may have just found a solution to the 'blank ammo' problem suffered by some players in multiplayer games with the combination of N3.5 and the Urban Operations patch v2.52. If it checks out in testing, stay tuned for a small patch.

In Case You Haven't Noticed... - Q

While our front page hasn't seen many updates over the last year, I have been updating ARMM's online manual for the NATO 3/3.5 mods. Several of the weapon briefings have been increased and improved. As time permits, I hope to publish updated weapon briefings for the earlier NATO mods along with briefings for weapons included in other RSE titles which ARMM has not yet modded. Let me know what you think...

Updates and Congratulations - Q

I know that many of you are wondering whether ARMM is planning any new mods. For the moment, ARMM's sights are set on the upcoming release of R6: Raven Shield. I finally have a new computer to replace my much abused P166, so I should be able to play a more active role. In the mean time, I am continuing to compile the 'Mother of All Spreadsheets' of weapon stats and figures. Be patient...all good things come to those who wait.

Congratulations go out to ARMM members MeanGreen and Serellan. Since the last update, MeanGreen won two Silver medals in World Police Winter Games representing the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Serellan has finally hit the big leagues and is transitioning from amateur modder to professional game designer. He is now employed by Red Storm Entertainment in their design department. His current duties are concentrated on scripting. How cool is that?

Status Report - Q

I know that many of you are checking to see whether ARMM is developing any new mods for Black Thorn or Ghost Recon. For the moment, ARMM's sights are set on Ghost Recon, but our activities are going be slow going for the near future.

MeanGreen is busy training for the World Police Winter Games in March, and Serellan is off to Salt Lake City provide security for the upcoming Olympic games. However, BrownFoot is busy in 'Spreadsheet Commando' mode, crunching our existing weapon stats into a GR-friendly format. And while I cannot run GR on my much abused P166, I will be providing support by compiling the 'Mother of All Spreadsheets' of weapon stats and figures.

Be patient...all good things come to those who wait.
