The first Wolfenstein game from id Software was Wolfenstein 3D, which broke out and made big noise in the still new smelling world of PC gaming back in 1992. Wolfenstein is the latest visit to the World War II era sci-fi horror classic and brings the story's hero, William ‘B.J.’ Blazkowicz back for more Nazi crushing action.

The tale takes a dimensional twist this time as the Nazi forces try to exploit the power of the Black Sun, found in "The Veil" another dimension layered over our own. The single player game will have you playing BJ out to stop the Nazi's from gaining control of this new power in their quest to conquer all, and you'll have one hell of a time doing it with the newly tweaked id Tech 4 graphics and special gameplay features.

The following F.A.Q. (Frequently Asked Questions) will attempt to answer the most common questions we get from the players in our mail, as well as some you may not even thought of yet.

Q:   What is Wolfenstein and when will it be out?

A:Wolfenstein is the latest in the Wolfenstein series of games from id Software, this time developed by Raven Software with multiplayer done by Endrant Studios and Pi Studios, under the direction of id Software. The game will be released in North America on August 4th, 2009 with later August dates staggered out for other territories.

Q: Will the game be released for the PC?

A:Wolfenstein started out as a PC game and we're happy to say it will remain in the PC realm once again. The game will also be released for the Xbox 360 and PS3 at the same time as the PC version. Everybody dances at the same time on this one!

Q: Is this just another World Was II themed game?

A:Hell no! Wolfenstein games have always taken place in the World War II era, but that's because it's based on the Nazi forces connection to the supernatural. Wolfenstein is always a story about more than just the war that raged through large parts of the world at the time. It's about the never ceasing pursuit of power and conquest with a lone hero out to spoil the fun. The game storyline is prime movie fodder and has been rumored to be an upcoming Hollywood property from time to time.

Q: What's this "Veil" I keep hearing about?

A:“The Veil” is a dark, parallel dimension that is accessed by the player through the use of a mysterious amulet that is also part of the focus of the game, as BJ tries to find the source of the dreaded new power. The Veil was discovered by the Nazi’s who plan to use it’s power source as a deadly new power to win the world in a desperate quest for ultimate power. In the Veil, new powers come into play that will affect the world and players sight, power and even the ability to out maneuver the flow of time in our dimension.

Q: What kind of PC will I need to play the game?

A:The following are the minimum PC specs as released by the developers. We recommend higher specs for full enjoyment tof the game and basically, the more you have for CPR, graphics and RAM, the better the game will play.

Microsoft DirectX(R) 9.0c (included & required for Windows XP & Vista)

We’re not sure about what modes of play will be in the game and how the Veil powers will be balanced and used, but we do expect some team VS team action in class based, objective accomplishing play as in Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory.

Q: What kinds of weapons will be in Wolfenstein?

A:Wolfenstein will again be a mix of realistic period weapons and futuristic and fantastic weapons. Retruning will the Tesla Cannon, that electri’fry’ing beauty from Return to Castle Wolfenstein as well as the German MP-40, the Flamethrower and the new Particle Cannon. The Partical Cannon is one of the Veil powered threats in the game, but this is one mean beast that disintegrates foes, and one the player gets to use and upgrade.

Q: Upgrades, I’ve heard about some of those. How will they work?

A:By attaining gold found in the game, and possibly by other means like goals, you’ll be able to upgrade regular and Veil powered weapons. Upgrades include a higher ammo capacity, firing rate and silencers, as well as some Veil power enhancements.
